WHY ADR INTERNATIONAL REGISTER? Since 1st January 2002, Dutch government stroke the protection of the degrees of several occupations from the commercial code. They herewith actively dissociated themselves from the safekeeping and maintenance of quality standards of occupations like estate agent, surveyor and expert. Many found this undesirable. After all, a lack of clarity was the consequence. Commissioners, consumers, companies and organizations need quality and professionalism. Certifying safeguards this need. Several Dutch professions and professionals sail a collective course and as per 5th May 2003 they established the Worldwide Examination Certification Institute (WCEI). Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) worldwide takes the lead in solving disputes and conflicts. More often ADR replaces the formal administration of justice. Within the ADR branch arbitrators, dispute coaches, mediators, negotiators and other professionals are active. However, no central register for ADR professionals is available. To make ADR worldwide even more successful it is essential to establish the International ADR Register. Therefore WCEI has taken the initiative for the International ADR Register. The International ADR Register (ADR Register) is an official branch and trade name of WCEI. The International ADR Register is exclusively focusing on the ADR branch and at present on business, personal and product certifying. INDEPENDENT International ADR Register is independent. The certification is open for everyone and every company fulfilling the requirements as stated in public and transparent certification schemes. The certification obviously is not attached to the membership of a branch or professional association.

ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFIED BY LLOYDS REGISTER NETHERLANDS International ADR Register, as official body of the Worldwide Certification Examination Institute (WCEI), is ISO 9001:2008 certified by Lloyds Register in RotterdamNetherlands (www.lqra.nl). Our ISO 9001:2008 certification is registered with Deutscher Akkreditierungs Rat (DAR) and United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS). International ADR Register is under auspices of a supervisory board. This board is under the chairmanship of mr ing A.H. Vermeer (former member European Parliament). In analogy to the ISO 17024 (certification professionals) and ISO 9001:2008 (management process certification) International ADR Register sets its own certification scheme for the International Certified ADR Practitioner®. Every professional group within this certification scheme contains its own certification standards. The certification scheme is connected to the Standards Quality Commission (SQC). The SQC purpose is to be the branch representative panel of experts. Besides the SQC, other commissions can be installed, like for example the examination commission, the accreditation commission and the commission of grievance. All certificating groups distinguish themselves by appointing a code of conduct, operational requirements, right of complaint, educational requirements, experience requirements and previous career requirements.

INTERNATIONALE ERKENNING DOOR HET INTERNATIONAL MEDIATION INSTITUTE (IMI) Per September 1st 2011 the International ADR Register is accredited as Global Qualifying Assessment Program by the International Mediation Institute (Global IMI QAP).

ADR CERTIFICATION POSSIBILITIES
International ADR Register holds the certification scheme:
International Certified ADR Practitioner®
This certification scheme has certification standards for the certification main groups:
International certified ADR practitioner® / International ADR Certified Arbitrator® International certified ADR practitioner® / International ADR Certified Conflict-coach® International certified ADR practitioner® / International ADR Certified Mediator® International certified ADR practitioner® / International ADR Certified Negotiator®
Within the certification main groups there are different certification status standards:
ASSOCIATE certification status: Once off certification for the maximum of 5 years. Certification renewal is not possible. The certificate holder has not yet complied with the certification experience and/or proficiency test. FULL certification status: Ongoing certification. The certificate holder has complied with all certification tests.
Within the certification main groups there are certification standards for different certification sub groups, such as:
International ADR Certified Mediator® - Family mediator International ADR Certified Mediator® - Maritime mediator
Within certification sub groups different categories can be registered. Categories are not connected to specific standards.

ADR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for the personal certification for maritime professionals a candidate must comply with / pass:
Antecedent test / Education test / Experience test / Identification test / Knowledge test / Proficiency or skills test
To qualify for the commercial business certification for maritime companies the candidate company must comply with / pass:
Antecedent test / Experience test / Identification test / Management system test / Personal certification test
To qualify for the product or service certification the product must or service comply with / pass:
Quality test
All our certificate holders are obliged to act accordingly to all International ADR Register regulations and instructions such as:
Relevant and applicable certification scheme(s), certification standard(s), profession profile(s) and professional code(s) ADR disciplinary rules and ADR rights of complaint ADR rules for the use of the logo and trade name ADR Continuing Professional Development Program (CPD program)
ASSOCIATE CERTIFICATION / FULL CERTIFICATION
International ADR Register makes a distinction between ‘associate certification’ and ‘full certification’.
Associate certification: The associate certification is a one time certification. Certification renewal is not possible. The certification period is a five year none interrupted period. The associate personal certified professional has complied with four out of six tests (antecedent test, education test, identification test, knowledge test) and must comply before the certification expiration date with the experience test and skills test. If not: The certificate holder will be retired from the public register at www.adr-register.com. Full certification: The full certification is a on-going certification. The full personal certified professional has complied with all tests (antecedent test, education test, experience test, identification test, knowledge test, skills test). International ADR Full Certified Mediators have access to the IMI Register (International Mediation Institute).
EXCLUSIVE MARKET ACCESS More and more institutional parties, such as governments, public organizations and companies, multi national companies require personal and / or company based certification. Therefore certification is the key factor to exclusive market access.

PUBLIC REGISTER he public register is published at our website www.adr-register.com. WCEI now has approximately 1500 active certified persons and companies in Belgium, Croatia, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore and South Africa. We are working on other adjustments of certification schemes. Also WCEI is in contact with other countries to establish certification schemes.

TAILOR MADE NATIONAL ADR SCHEMES OR CROSS OVER REGISTRATION We offer the ADR branch tailor made national solutions for local and national requirements and other special needs. We offer the ADR professionals the possibility of cross over registration; this solution makes it possible to make other titles and competences visible in the International ADR Register. ACCREDITATION ADR INSTITUTES AND ADR COURSES All certificates holders are obliged to follow a basic training course within the scope as wherefore certification is requested. The basic training courses are provided by ADR accredited institutes. Please contact an ADR accredited institute in your region for more information.
